Welcome one and all to the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' blogsite. This site was set up to share photos, historical pieces, comment and virtually anything else pertaining to transportation in the Philippines, with a special emphasis on rail. Occasional we vary from topic, but this is the less serious side of the hobby shining through - cause sometimes, in this miserable and uptight world, we just take ourselves a little too seriously. Since 1999, the Philippine Railway Historical Society has regularly published items, FOR FREE, of railway interest on our PRHS Website. These include locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, as well as our occasional magazine, 'Along Da Riles'. Our interest base has grown over the years with our main Facebook railway group expanding to include groups interested in other Philippine Transport, modelling of Philippine transport and even a group for Philippine railfans interested in overseas railways. If it sounds interesting, come join in the fun of the oldest, and most diverse, group dedicated to Philippine railways and other transport. We look forward to meeting you.
If you have a question Philippine railway related, just drop us a line, maybe we can help. _ _
For the next installment in our 'Spotlight' series, we take a look at General Electric locomotive #921, a U15C model delivered back in 1991, the second last of her class.
These photos were taken during a visits in 2007/9, while she layover at the locomotive shed in Tayuman (Manila).
In 2022, she can still be found operating along the open parts of the south line from Manila.
In these two shots from 2009, 921 is seen at the Caloocan Workshops for some sort of maintenance.
It is noted in the above shot that her original, as delivered livery, is starting to reappear.
Pacita Complex is part of San Pedro in Laguna, between Alabang and Calamba on the main south line.
The station is situated just south of the former Carmona line junction and opened in November 1975.
During November 2020, Jared was lucky to capture U15C 921 hauling carriages 7A-2025 , CAR-5, CAR-3 and CAR-2 (CAR-2 still being in the blue livery) from Manila to Calamba.
He shared the following images with us.
We thank Jared for his generosity in sharing these interesting photographs with us.
If your interested in learning more about PNR rollingstock, we have a number of free publications on our PRHS website.
It has been a long time coming, but with us entering the third decade of our existence, we felt it was time to go through all our sites/groups and give them
all a full refurbishment and update.
Time to make the hobby great again. In the coming weeks this upgrade will be ongoing. Much has been done, but there is a lot more to come. Contributions always welcome.

Celebrating 20 Great Years
Of The PRHS.
Another look at PNR's heavy haulers, the 900 class. Both a beautiful looking locomotive, and an amazingly reliable one given the conditions they sometimes find themselves in.
919 thought to be the last operational locomotive to wear the 'Philippine 2000' livery.
My first visit to one of my favourite locations. Tayuman Locomotive Shed. 921 and 916 still exist and are operational. The later was originally numbered 908. 904 would later carry the 908 number.
917 at the original Alabang station. It was later replaced by a new station on the other side of the level crossing just visible in the background. Ones asawa, and her cousin, are seen standing in the middle of the perway.

I'M BACK
Yep it has been a long time since I last posted here. Trouble makers just seem to make it all to hard at times. Sadly there are a number of them in the Philippines rail hobby.
However, eventually I see them for the fools they are and, well, I guess I have reached that point again now.
To start with, lets look at some photos from back in 2011.
We always welcome news, photos and small articles for inclusion on both this site and our parent group (see below). Please email us!

The Philippine Railway Historical Society websites and forums on Facebook and Twitter, along with our YouTube channel, have further information regarding these interesting railways and also a number of chat forums for those interested in all areas of Philippine transportation.
Our various forums have the latest news and information from a number of very knowledgeable people. Please join in with our PRHS family, learn about the railways of the Philippines and make new friends.
We now act as a information society, having removed ourselves from the badder elements of the Manila railfan hobby, existing to meet and help others with similar interests.

FREE PRHS RAILWAY PUBLICATIONS
The PRHS regularly publishes magazines (mostly ezines, but sometimes hard copies) covering different railway topics. Locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, publications aimed at modellers and our occasional magazine 'Along Da Riles'. In the future, we are planning a number of other publications of interest to everyone, along with plans for a regularly updated database, and another plan that could prove to be a first for the Philippines. PRHS: Bringing a railfan hobby to the nation.
