Welcome one and all to the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' blogsite. This site was set up to share photos, historical pieces, comment and virtually anything else pertaining to transportation in the Philippines, with a special emphasis on rail. Occasional we vary from topic, but this is the less serious side of the hobby shining through - cause sometimes, in this miserable and uptight world, we just take ourselves a little too seriously.
Since 1999, the Philippine Railway Historical Society has regularly published items, FOR FREE, of railway interest on our PRHS Website. These include locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, as well as our occasional magazine, 'Along Da Riles'.
Our interest base has grown over the years with our main Facebook railway group expanding to include groups interested in other Philippine Transport, modelling of Philippine transport and even a group for Philippine railfans interested in overseas railways.
If it sounds interesting, come join in the fun of the oldest, and most diverse, group dedicated to Philippine railways and other transport.
We look forward to meeting you.

If you have a question Philippine railway related, just drop us a line, maybe we can help.

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RAILWAY'S
LOOK WHAT ELSE HAS ARRIVED!

Edited: 23:34 (20:34 Manila Time)  29/03/2020
Check back for more updates.

We are, again, very proud to be able to show Philippine railway supporters some more photos of the third shipment of brand new DMUs.
Even more capacity for PNR passenger services.

Be ready to see them busy riding the rails soon.

Maraming salamat to all in the Philippines who have made these new railcars.

Terima kasih to INKA of Indonesia for your terrific work.

If wishing to share, which you are very welcome to do, please share via the website URL and not 'Rising Philippine' style.

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RAILWAYS
NEW ROLLINGSTOCK

A little look at the new loco hauled rollingstock destined for PNR. The livery is lovely and will look impressive behind the new locomotive in our last post.
Much to look forward to in coming months.

If you wish to share, please share the page. The image was given to us in trust and we ask people to respect the owners rights. Thank you.

It is indeed an exciting time to be part of the rail industry of the Philippines, whether it is a passing interest, an obsession (I'm guilty), or if you work on rail, the last couple of years has seen old rail services upgraded and restored, as well as all new lines being built, on a scale not seen since the early days of rail in the country.
The national rail operator, 'Philippine National Railways' has been a big part of this and, through the great leadership of GM Junn Magno, we see a system on the mend and gradually returning to it's rightful place in the Philippine transport industry....on top.
I have been incredibly fortunate to be a part of the rail scene there since 1999, having been blessed with many good people who have made me welcome in my second home. Sadly, distance means I cannot attend everything, but thanks to these people I am always able to share in the bigger moments.

One of those 'BIGGER' moments occurred yesterday with the brand new, Indonesian built, DMU set arriving in Manila. This is the first of a number of new items that includes a brand new locomotive and rollingstock.
My mate Mark has generously supplied us with photos and video footage of this historic event. Enjoy!!

Note: Related videos are down below the photos.

For those of us who are fleet researchers, this first set in numbered as follows.

K3 3 19 01 (HC)
K3 3 19 02 (TC)
K3 3 19 03 (HC)

K3 (Third Class)
3 (Hydraulic)
19 (Year of Build)
01 (Unit Number)

In regards to the 3.
In Indonesia, 1=Electric, 2=Diesel Electric and 3=Hydraulic.

Today was the start of a new era for the 'Philippine National Railways' with the surprise unveiling of the first locomotive in the new orange colour scheme.
There has been some talk of a new scheme during both of my two most recent visits, with many theories as to what that would be. However, no theory came close to the striking orange that 917 rolled out in today.
I believe the new locomotive from Indonesia, perhaps the DMU and loco hauled stock a well, will be arriving in this livery It also has me wondering if the paint stripped ROTEM DMU set will be making an appearance in the new livery as well.
We offer a BIG thank you to 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' reporter Mark Chua for bringing us the news, as we as the wonderful shots of her below.

Thanks to Mark Chua and PNR for helping with this news piece.
