Welcome one and all to the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' blogsite. This site was set up to share photos, historical pieces, comment and virtually anything else pertaining to transportation in the Philippines, with a special emphasis on rail. Occasional we vary from topic, but this is the less serious side of the hobby shining through - cause sometimes, in this miserable and uptight world, we just take ourselves a little too seriously.
Since 1999, the Philippine Railway Historical Society has regularly published items, FOR FREE, of railway interest on our PRHS Website. These include locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, as well as our occasional magazine, 'Along Da Riles'.
Our interest base has grown over the years with our main Facebook railway group expanding to include groups interested in other Philippine Transport, modelling of Philippine transport and even a group for Philippine railfans interested in overseas railways.
If it sounds interesting, come join in the fun of the oldest, and most diverse, group dedicated to Philippine railways and other transport.
We look forward to meeting you.

If you have a question Philippine railway related, just drop us a line, maybe we can help.

SPOTLIGHT: U15C #921 - 2007/9

For the next installment in our 'Spotlight'  series, we take a look at General Electric locomotive #921, a U15C model delivered back in 1991, the second last of her class.

These photos were taken during a visits in 2007/9, while she layover at the locomotive shed in Tayuman (Manila).

In 2022, she can still be found operating along the open parts of the south line from Manila.

In these two shots from 2009, 921 is seen at the Caloocan Workshops for some sort of maintenance.
It is noted in the above shot that her original, as delivered livery, is starting to reappear.

7A-2007 DETAIL SHOTS 2009

For fans and modellers of Philippine rollingstock, I bring forth a collection of detail shots showing 7A-2007.

7A-2007 came to the Philippines second-hand from Japan, where it was built in in 1977.

Japan Type: Suhafu 12

Japan Number: 12-111

The carriage formed part of the final COMMEX set, being used on the once a day service to Binan in 2009.

Despite being in a very bad condition, it was noted still existing in 2019. Though it was not in use.
