Welcome one and all to the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' blogsite. This site was set up to share photos, historical pieces, comment and virtually anything else pertaining to transportation in the Philippines, with a special emphasis on rail. Occasional we vary from topic, but this is the less serious side of the hobby shining through - cause sometimes, in this miserable and uptight world, we just take ourselves a little too seriously.
Since 1999, the Philippine Railway Historical Society has regularly published items, FOR FREE, of railway interest on our PRHS Website. These include locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, as well as our occasional magazine, 'Along Da Riles'.
Our interest base has grown over the years with our main Facebook railway group expanding to include groups interested in other Philippine Transport, modelling of Philippine transport and even a group for Philippine railfans interested in overseas railways.
If it sounds interesting, come join in the fun of the oldest, and most diverse, group dedicated to Philippine railways and other transport.
We look forward to meeting you.

If you have a question Philippine railway related, just drop us a line, maybe we can help.

MARK'S NORTHERN ADVENTURE

Our PRHS mate, Mark Chua, recently did a trip north to San Fernando (Pampanga) with
Guillermo Karlo Angelo Juan III.
During their epic adventure, they stopped at a number of interesting railway locations. We are thankful to Mark for sharing some of his shots here.

THE FESTIVAL MALL CHOO CHOO.

Way, way, back in the ancient year that was 2007, I was told that there was a similar train ride in Alabang's Festival Mall, as the one I had found in Fairview SM.
My railway obsession sees me go hunting anything vaguely rail related, yeah, even mall miniature rides. Probably a bit sad I guess.
Anyway, opportunity presented it while down there trying to catch up with a friend (back then anyway) so I suggested to the family that we may like to check out Festival Mall. Of course, I did fail to mention the reason why I wanted to go and, rather surprisingly, they did not question my sudden interest in visiting YET another mall.

Here be a couple of shots I took.
Hardly visionary
masterpieces, but they are what they are.

I ordered a Champ Burger Jollibee (Festival Mall), a CHAMP Burger.

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RAILWAYS
NEW ROLLINGSTOCK

A little look at the new loco hauled rollingstock destined for PNR. The livery is lovely and will look impressive behind the new locomotive in our last post.
Much to look forward to in coming months.

If you wish to share, please share the page. The image was given to us in trust and we ask people to respect the owners rights. Thank you.

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RAILWAY'S
NEW LOCO.

We are proud to be able to show the first photos of the new locomotive type destined for the Philippines.
An impressive looking locomotive indeed, one guaranteed to gain attention while going about it's railway duties.

You are welcome to share this webpage, However, please do not remove photos and post as your own. Please respect the copywrite of the owner.

The future is looking great.
Mabuhay.

Caloocan Part 7
Apologies for it taking so long to get around to this latest Caloocan installment, there has been a lot of Philippine hobby stuff going on behind the scenes and that has been taking up a lot of my time.
Ultimately, we hope these developments will be worth it for our local railfan hobby.

Due to the popularity of historic documents in an earlier installment, we have included some here again. We also have a look at the workshop back in 2009

The 'Passenger Car Division Office' inside Caloocan Workshops.
This office was later demolished and removed.

U14C General Electric locomotive 911.
She still exists in 2020, but is unlikely to be reactivated.

U10B General Electric 2518 has since been scrapped.

Meet and greet with Eng Besmonte at Caloocan Workshops.
Gave him a copy of our latest book.

A couple more images of the impressive machine shop area of the workshops.

This building was to the east of the smaller workshop at Caloocan.
It was once proposed as a possible location for a rail heritage base.
