Welcome one and all to the 'Philippine Railway Historical Society' blogsite. This site was set up to share photos, historical pieces, comment and virtually anything else pertaining to transportation in the Philippines, with a special emphasis on rail. Occasional we vary from topic, but this is the less serious side of the hobby shining through - cause sometimes, in this miserable and uptight world, we just take ourselves a little too seriously.
Since 1999, the Philippine Railway Historical Society has regularly published items, FOR FREE, of railway interest on our PRHS Website. These include locomotive, rollingstock and transit updates, as well as our occasional magazine, 'Along Da Riles'.
Our interest base has grown over the years with our main Facebook railway group expanding to include groups interested in other Philippine Transport, modelling of Philippine transport and even a group for Philippine railfans interested in overseas railways.
If it sounds interesting, come join in the fun of the oldest, and most diverse, group dedicated to Philippine railways and other transport.
We look forward to meeting you.

If you have a question Philippine railway related, just drop us a line, maybe we can help.

SPOTLIGHT ON: BACOLOD'S UNIDENTIFIED BALDWIN

This locomotive is located in the middle of a roundabout on the road from the local airport to Bacolod City proper.

While it has not been possible to identify the exact locomotive, it is believed to be from Central Azucarera de Bais in Bais City.
Either 58780 (#6) or 58779 (#7) of 1925.

2009: RANDOM ROLLINGSTOCK / RAILCARS FINALE

Hello, again viewers.

This post marks three milestones.
Firstly, we finally find ourselves at the end of our 2009 coverage and have started preparing to move into 2010. Given the continuing wide variety of topics photographed, we will be mostly continuing the random guff-type posts both here, and on our travel blog
Also, the site passed 320,000 views while I was partaking in my 14th Philippine trip in September. An amazing achievement and I thank everyone who has visited over 25 years.

On a less happy note, Blogger is being even worse than its usual demented self, with some changes about to be placed on either some or all, of my sites.
While an explanation was issued, it was in that sort of language only these tech companies seem to understand.
So, while for now I still have some posts set to appear here, I am on the lookout for a viable replacement for Blogger. Something it seems many are in the process of doing :-(

I've no idea who this lovely lady was, but she was somehow related to the Rotem sets and these tests.

Still so new that the seats and floor remained covered in plastic, and the air-conditioning purely awesome..

We will shortly move into my 2010 trip, the locomotives, the rollingstock, the infrastructure, the elevated railways, from Manila down to Legaspi.

Along with Philippine scenery and aviation in
