TUTUBAN STATION (MANILA) - AUGUST 2022

Last August, while attending too some heritage meetings in Manila, I decided to make one last visit to the current Tutuban station before the upcoming railway modernising project that is expected to see it obliterated.
The station, which includes the headquarters of the 'Philippine National Railways', has had a relatively short life, having only opened back on July 1st, 2007.
I've been lucky to have had many visits over the years, and met some great members of management and staff.
The following photos were all taken on August 11th.

The front entrance to Tutuban station and headquarters.
They have a lovely garden setup, with two preserved steam locomotives.

Many is the time we have had lunch in the canteen, always some nice local dishes.
Sadly it had closed down by the time of our last visit.

Behind is restored Buda car #22, the work being done by a failed local preservation group.

While these two show the Tutuban control tower, as opposed to the station, I am told it is slated for demolition during the upcoming modernization project.
Another part of history soon to be wiped from the face of the planet.
