TRAIN JUMPS RAILS; 3 HURT

MANDALUYONG, Rizal, May 23 — Three persons were hurt and a number of people got the shock of their lives when a speeding train was derailed, its four coaches smashing into four houses alone the tracks in barrio Saniga, this town, at past 2 p.m. today.

Hurt were Violeta Reli, 6, her brother Renato, 4, and cousin Redentor Reli, 6. They were brought to a nearby clinic for treatment.

The three children were playing inside one of the houses that were wrecked. The houses belong to Ismael Salaño, Onofre Reli, Alexandra Reli, and Concepcion Millar. All are squatting on the MRR land along the railroad tracks.

The train which loaded sugar at the Insular Sugar Refining Company was bound for the Tutuban station when the incident occurred.

According to witnesses the train engineer fled immediately after the incident, Police investigators said.
