DAVAO PENAL COLONY
Mindanao Philippines.
This absolutely fascinating photo was shared to the PRHS Facebook group by Reynante Bulaon, coming from the 'WW2 Radio' Facebook group.
Where they got it, or who even took the shot, is unknown.
The front vehicle looks like some locally made contraption, not unlike the BUDA car used by the 'Philippine National Railways. The carriage behind certainly appears to be a steam locomotive tender, possibly from one of the timber railways that existed on Mindanao.
Very little is known of this operation and we would very much like to hear from anyone else with further information.

NOTE: Appears to be a cut and paste copy of 'History of Davao' site above.
It is thought that the line would have taken the straight line to the left or right (maybe both) of the colony. Though this is not confirmed.
