2010: SHAW BOULEVARD - EDSA MANILA

2010

In this mediocre installment, we (MrX and myself) find ourselves photographing the MRT3 just south of the Shaw Boulevarde station.
A few years earlier I had noted the Shangri-La Plaza carpark and thought it would be worth running the gauntlet of security guards in an effort to obtain some images.
With MrX joining me, the challenge was accepted, and we headed for the lifts up to whatever level it was.
I can't say what it is like in 2024, but the guards were fine with us entering the lifts, while the two on patrol left alone when walking by.
Anyway, the effort was well worth it, with plenty of photos taken. Many of these appear below.

It is worth noting that since these photos were taken the fleet has undergone refurbishment and have all been renumbered in the 3000 series (3001-3073) in line with the other elevated operators.

SPOTLIGHT: 108 (BALDWIN 52937 OF 1920) - BACOLOD (NEGROS OCC)

The third locomotive on our Bacolod visit was to be Baldwin #108 from the Central Azucarera de La Carlota mill.

We turned up at the entrance to Panaad Park, only to be told the place was closed. This was a little bit disappointing as the locomotive was less than a minute or two away, and time was in limited supply on the trip.

Just in case, a few photos was taken from the fence (below) which was obtained with a small tele lens.

If visiting, it is probably worth noting that the park is open from 4am - 9am and 4pm - 8pm seven days a week.

Unusual times for a park to be open, but if you arrive outside of these hours the image above is still possible.

I think she still regrets letting me name the twins.
